OVERVIEW
As demand for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and high-performance computing infrastructure continues to accelerate, data center developers face increasing pressure to bring new facilities online faster while maintaining reliability and performance standards.
To support aggressive construction and commissioning schedules, a leading North American data center rental and fleet management provider maintains a large inventory of commissioning equipment available for immediate deployment. With hundreds of assets supporting multiple projects simultaneously, the company helps contractors, commissioning agents, and operators accelerate startup activities while reducing project risk.
As liquid-cooled data center architectures become the preferred solution for high-density computing environments, the customer sought a scalable load bank platform capable of accurately simulating real-world cooling and electrical demand. Equally important, the company required centralized visibility and control across large deployments to support the increasing scale and complexity of hyperscale and AI-focused facilities.
Thermon delivered a comprehensive commissioning solution built around its Poseidon™ Liquid Load Banks and Edict™ Master Control Platform, providing both operational flexibility and centralized fleet management.

THE CHALLENGE
Data center commissioning timelines continue to compress as demand for compute capacity grows. The customer required a standardized solution capable of supporting multiple large-scale projects simultaneously while ensuring repeatable performance across every deployment.
As fleet size expanded, managing large quantities of load banks became increasingly complex. Operators needed the ability to control, monitor, and coordinate testing activities across entire commissioning sites while maintaining visibility into critical operating conditions.
Key project requirements included:
- Immediate equipment availability to support aggressive commissioning schedules.
- Standardized fleet configurations for rapid deployment and simplified maintenance.
- Accurate simulation of liquid cooling demand and thermal loads.
- Compatibility with industry-leading coolant distribution units, power distribution units, and chiller systems.
- Reliable operation in mission-critical commissioning environments.
- Centralized monitoring and control of large-scale deployments.
- A scalable platform capable of supporting future fleet growth.
The customer needed a solution that could support both today’s commissioning requirements and the larger, more complex data center projects expected in the future.
THE SOLUTION
Thermon supplied Poseidon™ Liquid Load Banks engineered specifically for data center commissioning, startup, and integrated systems testing applications.
Designed to simulate real-world cooling and electrical demand, the Poseidon platform allows operators to validate liquid cooling infrastructure before critical computing equipment is placed into service. The units feature a compact mobile design, Siemens-based controls, intuitive operator interfaces, quick-connect power connections, and capacities up to 640 kW per unit.
To support large-scale fleet management, Thermon also deployed its Edict™ Master Control Platform. Edict provides centralized monitoring and control across an entire installation, giving operators a single interface for managing load profiles, viewing operating data, monitoring system status, and coordinating testing activities.
The platform enables simultaneous monitoring and control of more than 250 liquid load banks, significantly reducing operational complexity while improving efficiency across large-scale commissioning projects.
Together, Poseidon™ and Edict™ provide a scalable, fleet-ready solution capable of supporting the commissioning requirements of today’s hyperscale and AI-driven data centers.
